For years I was curious as to what this “Bikram Hot Yoga” studio was that I noticed in a plaza behind my college. I was intrigued by the steam-covered windows and the drenched bodies who seemed to spill out of the door looking somehow near dead, yet incredibly vibrant and full of life! What WAS this crazy place? Could I survive it if I attempted a class?

At the time I was terribly unhealthy. I wouldn’t leave the gym until I had burned more calories than I had consumed that day and was clueless as to why I was actually gaining weight and becoming more overcome with anxiety and low self-esteem. Finally, with my best friend and her husband along for moral support, I built up the courage to attend my first class. I LOVED it! Still, it took me two years to attend a second class. From there I dove head-first into a regular yoga practice. I was able to increase my strength and flexibility and vastly improve my overall physical health. What meant even more to me was the way I FELT. My mind felt better. Finally I had clear, positive thoughts, confidence in myself and a true appreciation of my individuality. Falling in love with yoga allowed me to fall in love with me!

A matter of months later, in the Spring of 2009, I found myself at Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in Palm Desert, CA. I am forever grateful for that nine week experience. It has taken me to the most rewarding and fulfilling profession! I am humbled and truly blessed by every person who walks through the door for class. I am so fortunate to be able to share the benefits of yoga with others. It is my heart’s desire to greet each student with encouragement, love, and acceptance.
